This photo is of the studio before everyone started.
This is a painting that the owner of the studio painted. I thought it was pretty.

Christmas in Alabama
We had a gathering of our family on Christmas eve to open presents and a nice dinner. My niece and nephew were beside themselves to open presents (we had told them when it got dark we would open them) and so when we discovered that they had already arranged all the presents out on the floor we knew we'd better go ahead and open them.
This is my neice and nephew, Chloe and Clay. They were distributing presents with the help of their mom.
This was my prize... the moustache. I couldn't smile or the moustache would fall off.
We told my brother, Preston, that we needed a picture of the royal family. This is a very typical look you get from my brother.
This is my sister Stephanie and me with our crowns.
This is my parent's new house. It's beautiful.

"We Made It Through The Rain"- Barry Manilow
These pictures are of Ben loading up the 26 foot truck we rented. I must have had a pregnancy moment or something because when I saw him drive up in that thing I started crying. It looked like he was driving a tracter trailer or something.... and to think you just need a regular driver's license for one of those! (think about those Miami drivers in one of these puppies) I finally relaxed and realized that it was going to be ok.

Let It Snow!
Here is from our front porch. See the snow on Pam's car? It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Baby Barreth Update

Today I went to the doctor and heard the heartbeat for the first time. What a reassuring sound!! It was beating at about 160 beats a minute, which my doctor said was very good. My next appointment is the ultrasound on January 4th. Ben and I are very thankful to the Lord that everything is going well with our little one.

Family Times and Strange Sightings
Ben insisted that he ride his scooter to the church. I tried to tell him he might get frost bite or something, but I finally just let him do what he wanted. When I arrived at the church he had just gotten there after an hour of riding around and his face looked beet red. I don't think he's going to ride his scooter for a while... at least in the winter.
Across the street from the church is this house with the plastic horse on the porch. I tried to get the story from Grandma and she said that only a lady lives there and apparently her husband had a horse that looked just like it. I guess it's sentimental 'cause it's been on that porch for years. Hum... interesting.

Thanksgiving 07
Jake getting some food. He drove all the way up here from Miami. It was good seeing him.
Beki's here for Thanksgiving which is wonderful. I haven't seen her in over two years. She is not angry or perplexed... she's just goofing around I think in this photo.
After we ate we had a talent show. This is Ben's great aunt Jo on ukulele and I singing a song called "Slow Poke." She's hilarious.
Ben's grandmother, Georgia, and Ben's second cousin playing.
Then Ben and I did a remake of "Love Me, That's All I Ask Of You" as "Rusty (the dog), that's all I ask is poop". Ben is wearing a mask that has Rusty's face on it. My head is down because I was laughing so hard.
Good times had by all.

Fruit Pizza
Yesterday was my mother-in-law's birthday. (also my brother Preston's birthday) I hosted a dinner for her last night and made this... fruit pizza for dessert. I was very proud of my masterpiece as I spelled her name out in fruit. I told Ben over the phone what I was doing and he said, "I think you've got way too much time on your hands." Here's the recipe!
14 inch pizza pan, lightly greased
sugar cookie dough
place slices of cookie dough in pan. Let soften and then smooth together to form a crust. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes. (or less... watch it)
8 oz cream cheese
1/3 C sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
Beat above ingredients together. Spread on cooled cookie crust.
Fruit: You can use whatever fruit you like.. but I used banana slices (dipped in lemon juice so they don't turn brown), strawberries, mandarin oranges, blueberries, pineapple chunks, peach slices.
You could also use: seedless grapes cut in half, maraschino cherries, kiwi slices or whatever.
Arrange fruit to suit decorative tastes.
1/4 C apricot preserves
1 Tbsp water
Mix preserves and water for glaze. Drizzle over pizza. Chill and serve!

Nature and other happenings
Did we ever get some great photos!! Ben was very brave and waited beside a hole until a groundhog came out. He got so close! I couldn't believe it. Here is one coming out of a hole.
Close up... isn't he cute?
Here's a picture I took of another one. This one was HUGE! I was scared to get too close to it and when I got close he scurried in his hole. Apparently they can run up to 30 miles per hour. I didn't want to look down the hole for fear he would pop out and gnaw on my leg or something.
In other news, Pam taught me how to knit last night and I've started my first project. It's a scarf. Aren't you impressed?

Somebody give this man a hand!
Once I stopped rolling around the floor laughing, this left me absolutely speechless!
