I think that Vicar had some valid points and it shows that he clearly has communication with his parish. We are so out of touch with the poor and their needs that maybe we need a message like what he said to jolt us into helping more.
The lady from Sheffield also made a valid point that the "Church" needs to respond to those who are hurting..whether that is the poor or those who need emotional and/or physical help.

yeah, I think the church itself needs to be the hands that help rather than suggest shoplifting. His message was jolting all right. :)
