Someone has way too much time on their hands.
Random events from the life and times of Ben and Meredith.
Hush-a-bye, ma baby, slumber time is comin' soon;
Rest yo' head upon my breast, while mommy hums a tune;
The sandman is callin', where shadows are fallin',
While the soft breezes sigh as in days long gone by.
Way down in Missouri where I heard this melody,
When I was a little child on my mommy's knee;
The old folks were hummin', their banjos were strummin'
So sweet and low.
and yes, there is a reason that you don't know the song.
The Missouri state bird- bluebird (by the way, it's also NY's state
bird as well)

Well... today I had an audition for the Kansas City Chorale, a professional choir in the area. It has been a long time since I had an audition and since I only found out yesterday that my audition was today, I was nervous. I think it went well... and we'll see what happens. I met the conductor shown in the picture in the front. He was very funny and kind. His name is Charles Bruffy.
This is part of Park College. Can you imagine putting a roof on this building?
This is a tiny picture of what downtown Parkville looks like. There are lots of antique stores and neat restaurants. We enjoyed walking around! It also has a walking path that goes along the Missouri river, but we didn't have enough time to do it all in one day. Plus... it was hot. Anyway... we had a great day.
That's right everyone... this is my 100th posting on this blog. So bring out the festive dancers!!! This is how everyone looks in Missouri. (just kidding)

This is called a LaMancha. It has very small ears. My family had several of this kind. People used to ask us if we cut their ears off!!! They are very gentle and my sister's favorite.
This is called a Saanen. This breed is all white in color. My family had several of these as well. They make lots of milk.
This one is called a Toggenburg. It usually is not this scruffy looking. For shows people clip the hair and all. This one is not very common as well. Notice the small things on its neck? These are called "waddles" and they are not milked. (everyone always asked us that) They are just for decoration I guess. It's like the equivalent of dimples in humans... passed down from parents. Some Blustery Time
I never presumed the wind to be warm
tugging at my hair
nagging child.
it seems friendly today
I thought.
Walking on the beach
pieces punching at my feet
and water shy toes.
I pondered over the sea
awhile
gaze stuck by
wandering cosines.
My thoughts are like waves
I suppose
sometimes my emotions are carried
like a boat
up and down with the
minutes of time.
Each curve is stuck to another
you know
a giant jumble
doesn’t make any sense
on its own.
My very serious thoughts
are trawlers
bobbing slow
and stupid.
Happy thoughts are little canoes though
so out of place
on this
big bump.
But sailboats are my feelings
going quite fast
triangles cutting the sky of
my heart
hiring a cheap chauffeur
the wind.
The wind, ah yes
today it is my friend.
it makes my boat go.
I don’t mind.
