Life and Times

Ah... summer... I'd like to think of summer as laid back and completely carefree, but it hasn't been entirely.  There are cares in every season.

I recently made vanilla extract.  Sadly, only one person actually came to my vanilla extract making party.

Here's Romy walking her babies around with her water bottle for hydration.

I saw this third garage added onto a house in our neighborhood similar to ours and I thought it might be a great "granny flat" for our house instead of a garage.

I love looking at birds.  Here's Woody.

My mom came for a short visit.  Here we are at a hymn sing.

My friend's daughter had a birthday and they set up this cardboard box maze... cool!

I took the kids to the Johnson County Museum where they get to pretend things.  Here's Gwen wearing the postman's hat.

Romy making jewelry.

Zeke tending the chickens.

We've had a great year for strawberries and have enjoyed fresh strawberries almost every day.

I've also enjoyed my foxgloves.  This is my first year having them.  They are beautiful.

Kansas storms mean business...

Romy and Gwen looking at an ant colony.

I'm pretty taken by Romy's hair.

When mom was here she bought an air plant.  It bloomed! Now I have to have one.

Me reading to Romy.

My strawberry picking partner.
